a grand time

Tonight I was able to photograph a dear friend of mine's one year old son. The bonus was these other three cousins of his. We had a great time caputuring the Ibison's grandkids. I got to catch up with Monica who I haven't seen in a while. It was really neat because Stephanie and I had talked earlier in the week about this location and she mentioned that her great great grandfather had a milk farm and she had one of his old milk jugs; what a treasure! It was the perfect height for lil, Z, but the grass was a little too itchy~but we managed to get a few with the milk jug. It was perfect for this location. Lastly, thank goodness for the airplane flying overhead so I could get this priceless photo of Z looking up. love it!

despite the killer mosquito's

I had a great time capturing the Atchley girls tonight. They both did fantastic. One word sums up these lil ones, Precious. Neither of the girls seemed bothered by the 110% humidity or the bugs! I hope M & J like these and good luck with choosing, I'm not even the mama and some of these melt my heart! Really. I posted the whole session in a public gallery on the website, I hope that's okay J?:) You can see all the pics by going to www.stillmomentsbyleighann.com

the birthday girl

My niece, Bailee, turns 6 this next week. She is sixth months older than Addison, so she started school this last year. However, she and Addison are very close and have enjoyed spending time with each other along with all the cousins. Thankfully, we've had great weather down here. We swam most of the week, which was fine by me. Even lil Bryant swam his heart out. This is my last big trip this summer, so I've relaxed and had a great time with mom and dad. The kids have also been enjoying the Game Day VBS with a local church here, so Bennett didn't have to miss out since we missed the Grand edition of Game Day. I head back to work next week, so the older two kids are going to stay with G&G here, while I bring Bryant back to the Fort, Saturday. These are a few of the shots I got this week.

Mr. Sam!

Here's my nephew. He has always loved trains from birth, I think. And, can tell you all you want to know and more about the way they work. He and Addison both start school in a few weeks, so goes the innocence! Well, we hope not. We had a great time getting these shots this morning just before the rain. I couldn't really decide which was my favorite so I posted several.

It's official!
I can honestly say, I'm in business! I think it is hilarious to think that all you need is a website and some business cards to call yourself a small business. At least I have Douglas to steer me through all the tax stuff. (not that I intend on making enough to even worry about it!) This is strictly a hobby and I have no intention of ever leaving Northside. I do however what to share photography with other families. So this summer, I researched endlessly on websites and developers and I was shocked on how much websites with flash media cost. But, I did find one that is relatively cost effective. The main reason for the website is that families can order directly from the website which creates an easier way to choose proofs for developing. Anyway, if you want to check it out, I have several public galleries you can view. I would love some feedback. And, of course you can book a session, too! I've had a blast photographing families this summer. Keep checking back to see updates. Here's the link http://www.stillmomentsbyleighann.com/

Look at this cutie! I'm sure she'll break a few hearts in her lifetime, hopefully it won't be lil Bryant's. When I was uploading the pics from tonight's session, Bryant kept saying B's name and was laughing at her photos with the sunglasses. She's already got him in the palm of her hand. She turned two just a few weeks ago, so these are some of the shots we got to celebrate two years. Thanks Aimee and Tim!

Happy 4th!

What more could these two pictures say about the 4th. We had a great time at Mena celebrating the holiday. I found these hats at Dollar Tree, aren't they the cutest things on the boys!

Memories of the 4th

I absolutely love the 4th~ both past and present. When I was growing up, I spent many July 4th's on the river bank in Pascagoula, Mississippi, yes you read that right. My papaw was a carpenter/preacher and my grandmother loved the outdoors, so they built houses right off the river. Papaw is also known probably thoughtout the entire state of Alabama, (okay so I'm stretchin it a little, but still Jerry Neal's would kill for this receipe) for his signature BBQ. So, with the crystal clear cool creeks off the river and the best tatst'n ribs, you can imagine how sweet those times were for me. Those days were straight out of a Norman Rockwell painting, seriously. My mom's side of the family is really large, so the cousins just don't stop. But, I was particulary close to three of the girl cousins closest to my age. Just imagine four young girls all two years apart sitting side by side on the end of the tailgate of a little white datsun truck as our Papaw drives down the sandy roads back from the river. One of those girl's was even born on July 4th and she just happens to turn 30 today. Happy Birthday, Blair. (The first picture is of her and her precious son, Shep, who just turned one.) Just writing this, I'm laughing out loud. I know that many would call this recollection on the redneck side, well, in someways we are! I know this, those days of running barefoot with a cane pole in my hand not caring if I actually caught a fish, but just being out there with grandmother are priceless to me, whether they are redneck or not! Sadly, after Papaw passed, Grandmother decided to sale the camp, so our days of creek banks and BBQ's are not as easy to come by, not to mention that they are all 10 hours away. The picture above is the last time all of us were together at the camp before Grandmother sold it. The second pic is of Bennett enjoying the ribs!

Now I'll bring us out of the past and talk about our present 4th's. For the last five or so years we have celebrated with Doug's side of the family in Mena, AR. Doug's mamaw lives right outside the city limits on lots of acres so we have our own little Hasley, Morrow firework show with my husband being the ringleader. This is our most fun time of the year with his family. We have all the traditional stuff like ice cream, burgers, etc. But just hangin out and letting all the kids play is the most fun. Unlike Christmas where we have all the hurried atmosphere and presents to deal with, the 4th at Mena is simply relaxed and I absolutely love it. Since our family is still expanding, I guess the Hasley crew will be as big as the Sheppard crew. Anyway, some of the shots are from Mena in 05. It is crazy how fast these times fly.

So whether you are heading to a raging river or a picnic in the park today, have a great one!

Sunday night before the rain!

I was honored to caputre this family tonight, luckily right before the rain. I was excited to do a big family and it turned out really great. Shannon and Angela, you guys should be so proud, these kids are just beautiful. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed photographing them tonight. Call me anytime.
