Memorial Day Weekend

I really enjoyed being with the family this weekend. We hung out at home mostly and I got a lot of scrapbooking done this afternoon. I never managed to get a good mother's day picture a couple of weeks ago, so here's mine from this morning. Bryant is such a show off?

Jack Sparrow leaves the building

Well, what a year we've had. For the first time in a long time, I've felt real accomplishment here at NHS. Not only in the classroom, but with friendships, too. There have been many changes logistically but in regards to the focus team, I can not even begin to elaborate on the funny, serious, emotional, heated, crazy, etc conversations we've had. But, I will say this; I've never had more fun with a group of people. We have all had our ups and downs this year. With the tragic loss of Bernie, Barb's brother, to Rosemary's health, to the leaving of our resident Jack Sparrow, being some of our down times, to the rapping road trip to Amarillo, or CAP conferences, or the assembly this week as some of the highes! It will be a let down over the next few weeks, to not hear from Poin or Dexter? What ever will we do without H's code talk? I hope that the summer brings some well deserved rest for all of us, I can't wait until we meet in July to see how the crew has spent the time away.
I know that I remember Garvey calling me last year during the season finale of Grey's to say that I had been chosen for the Focus Team. At the time, I was more concerned about getting back to the finale. Now, the term "focus team" means family to me and how sad to see our leader move on. But, at least it is not too far away and we can always call on "Jack" to have our backs when we need a pick me up! Which we all know, we will!
Thanks to Julie for always leading and keeping us on track. I know that you have grown so much with us, too. Just think about where we started ~~ today? Thanks to Rosemary for keeping it real and focused on others~To Kathy for always doing the jobs no one else wanted to do. To Sims aka "Dexter," well, let's see, there was never a day that you had a "bad day," so to the constant of the group, we appreciate your personality daily. To Hyatt with all the wisdom of how the admin works and the minutes (Did you really keep those all year?), To Aimee, the excel queen, and the one who heard me vent most often. To Barb, who is by far the most fun and I'm so glad you will be back next year, To Blake aka "Poin" with your few but spoken words, you always had the insight in regards to the teachers' point of view, To Garvey, don't ever loosen up! You are a tremendous leader.
Someone asked last week in one of our mtgs, "How has our year been." My response was, "I don't know I've not stopped to think about it." Well, this post is my reflection. If more teachers felt as fulfilled as I do, then we could really make some add'l strides next year. Needless to say, our collaboration has been near perfection during 2nd period. I can honestly say you guys are the greatest and I love working with you daily. You made my 2007 the most memorable! And hey, it was my 10th year, so even better! I know that I have a purpose at this great school and I'm looking forward to getting after it again in July. BUT~ until then I'm headed to the beach and can't wait to play with the lil ones!

2007 Dance Recital

Boogie Down Broadway

Addy's second dance recital was last weekend and what a site. She loves the big stage. If it was up to her, she would prefer to skip all the rehearsels and just do the performance each week. Their ballet dance was to "Lion King" and their tap dance was "Broadway Baby". What makes it fun for me is that we've taken with Meredith and Allison for the last two years. It has been fun to see them go from babies to big girls. On more than one occasion during Addy's first year, she was sent out of class for acting out. But, this year she has grown up and I must say she actually stayed in all her classes without getting in trouble. We are not sure just yet, if we will take again this fall? We are starting gymnastics in a few weeks, all this flipping around the house needs to be done right, you know!

Summer, "Here we come!"

Rudy Creek

This afternoon was the perfect ending to a great weekend full of family! A few years ago, we found the creek at Rudy to be a perfect place to snap some photos of the kids just being kids! So, it was Bryant's turn. He could have thrown rocks for hours. All three kids were soaked, but the water felt great, not too cold. It was hot and humid today, so the water was nice. I love getting impromtu pictures of the kids. It is amazing that I have some of these same shots of Addy at the same age! My, how time flies! I'm really looking forward to summer and lazy mornings and late evenings to just be a mom.

Addison's portraits

Addison & the rollie pollie ollie

I finally got around to taking Addy's five year pictures. On the spure of the moment, she and I stepped out and drove across town and shot these great pictures. She looks entirely too grown up in these, but she still has such an innocence to her. My prayer is that she will love people and love God, more! It has been a struggle at times (to say the least) over the last five years with the little delightful one, but all along the way, God shows himself to me through her. I know he works overtime keeping my crew safe. Praise you! I pray that she will grow up knowing and believing Proverbs 31!
My favorite part of the shoot, was when she had to stop everything and rescue this little rollie pollie. To be honest the few shots that I managed to get with the little bug portray her precious personality more than all the other shots combined.

Bring on the Grand Baseball
